Talented Fedoskino artist Shavyrin Boris is a creator of this charming box. "Through the Window" is a romantic lacquer miniature by Shavyrin that shows his incredible ability to do portrait-quality faces, like a photo, but instead an original oil! As she looks through the frosted window of her cabin, this maiden is perhaps pensively waiting for the return from the winter forest of her woodsman husband.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The sides of the box are imitates the color of brown marble. A hinge is fastened to the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
