This beautiful hard cover / dust jacket large (8 1/2" x 11 1/2") book is titled "Palekh The State Museum of Palekh Art ". The book is devoted to original Russian folk art - Russian Lacquer Miniature. Palekh craftsmen today use the hereditary icon-painting skills of their fathers to make miniatures on papier-mache' lacquer wares that sparkle with exquisite colors. The subjects of these pictures are images inspired by poetry and fairy tales and scenes of contemporary life. Published in Moscow, the edition has over 160 pages with more than 1/2 of them containing colored illustrations of this Art technique, with over 20 covering the history of it.
