This interesting composition shows us a major moment from the popular Russian tale of "Scarlet Flower". Composition is painted by Kholui prominent artist Zoya Shibaeva. It depicts a scene from the popular Russian fairy-tale "The Scarlet Flower", written by S.T. Aksakov. The tale is very similar to what we know today as "Beauty and the Beast." This thrilling tale tells about love of a beautiful girl and a horrible beast that afterwards will turn into a handsome prince.
The image is a classic one showing the main heroine of the tale holding the most beautiful flower in the world in her hands.
The drawing is colorful and filled with intricate details. Bright red, green, yellow, blue color patches seem to be brighter against the black background. Gold paint is used to adorn almost all elements of the composition. All characters are drawn in detail; their individualized faces express different emotions, their costumes are decorated with variegated and golden floral patterns. The box is constructed out of high-grade paper-mache. The lid is hinged on the left side of the box. The exterior of the piece is painted with black lacquer and the interior is painted with red lacquer. The lid of the box is decorated with elegant gold patterns. The sides of the boxes are adorned with the more intricate gold floral patterns. Approx. 6"x 4"x1.5".
