Antique birch burl presentation chest with inset lacquer plaque. Hinged box with brass fixtures, lock and key, measures approximately 11.25" x 7.75" x 5.4" - lacquer plaque measures 4.9" diameter. A chip in the lacquer has been darkened. Normal crazing of lacquer due to age. Birch burl box is in very good condition overall with some aged scratches and a crack running along one side. Brass plate with lock is for presentation to Egor Ilyich Namardin upon retirement from a military post in 1908. The original key has a piece broken from the top.
