The center of the composition shows Father Frost and a Girl, who is freezing in the forest. Not long ago her Father left her in the forest to die from cold by the order of his cruel wife. The moment of riding is shown on the left side of the box. Then her Father has changed his mind, and decided to return to the forest and bring his daughter home. His daughter was alive and dressed in rich, warm clothes and has a casket full of treasures given her by father Frost...On the right side of the painting we can see cruel stepmother, who stayed in front of casket with treasures, that Father Frost gave to a girl...On the background we can village houses situated on the bank of the frozen river. The scene is painted in the traditional Palekh style. The details are enhanced with gold and aluminum paints. Gold paint is used to paint the attractive patterns that frames the box's lid, and wraps around the bottom part of the box's body.
