A sculptural piece depicting two hunters in a kayak, created by a Native carver. The wooden kayak carries figures carved from soapstone, featuring walrus ivory faces, baleen facial details, and baleen paddles.
Signed by the artist - Lenwood Saccheus, a Yupik and Inupiat Alaska Native born in 1964. He has been professionally carving for 40 years. He is known for his spirit masks, kayaks, and jewelry. Living in Anchorage with his wife Edna, he is a father of six, grandfather of four. He loves to hunt and fish in Great Alaskan outdoors.
