A poor farmer and his wife find their chicken lays a golden egg. From a traditional Russian folk tale called Kurochka Ryaba "The Speckled Hen". A short version of the story is included. This set is made by hand in Russia. It is made of linden wood and then painted by a professional matryoshka doll artist. Each matryoshka is polished with 3-5 layers of crystal clear lacquer. Approximately 7.25" tall. The nesting doll looks very joyful and festive.
