Lisin from the village of Palekh has painted this scene based on the interesting tale of "Firebird and Tsarevich Ivan". The whole composition is very much detailed, which is very common for this artist.
Gold paint is used to aid in the adding of the detail. The use of gold helps to enhance the already bold palette and bring out their true highlights.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and red lacquer is used to paint the interior of the box. The box has a hinge located above the composition and box rests on four round legs.The work is signed with the artist's name. Approx. 3" x 2.5" x 1.5".
