This colorful box was painted by Boris Shavirin from the village of Fedoskino.
The box shows Market place in the 18th century in Russia. This theme is traditional for Russian lacquer miniature art and very popular among modern artists.On the front, we can see two whealhy couples.They wear rich clothes, sewed with gold. Around them market people are trading, bargaining, selling all the goods. Small cafe on the right hand side invites to get some tea from Samovar.
The palette incorporates blue and white oils as the action takes place in winter, with addition of gold and silver metal paints. The artist demonstrates his unsurpassed skill while painting the character's festive attires. The effect of festivity is strengthened by a piece of mother-of-pear inlaid into the costumes of the characters; it shimmers beautifully with bright green and blue tints.

Rich gold line frames the composition.The box's sides imitates the color of brown marble; the bottom is black, while the interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box has a hinge to the left from the scene and rests on a flat surface. It is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino and the year (2016). Approx. 6"x4.5"x1.5".
